Job Advertisement: Student Assistant (20 hours / month)

We are looking for a

Student Assistant (20 hours/month)

to support a research project at the Professorship for African Politics and Development Policy. The position is to be filled as soon as possible, initially until the end of the 2025/2026 winter semester on 31 March 2026 for 20 hours per month (with the likely possibility of subsequent employment). Remuneration will be based on the standard rates set by the university in accordance with the individual's level of qualification (with or without a BA degree).

We are looking for a motivated and committed person with an interest in empirical research and very good English skills. Skills in one of the following languages are an advantage, but not a condition: Arab, French, Portuguese, or Swahili. German skills are not essential.

You should be a proficient user of MS Excel and enjoy systematic data research. You will be involved in the preparation of a paper focusing on recent youth protests in African countries.

You should be studying in a Master's programme or at an advanced stage of a Bachelor's programme with a strong social science component, have an interest in political science research and at least solid basic knowledge of social science methods. Your reliable presence in Bayreuth during the lecture period is desired. The exact working hours can be agreed flexibly.
